A grain moisture meter is a handheld (or portable) instrument designed to measure the moisture content (MC) of grains and seeds. Knowing the moisture content is crucial for harvesting, storage, drying and processing of grains.

1. Moisture measurement range & accuracy

• Typical ranges: e.g., ~2 % to ~30 % MC for many handheld models.

• Accuracy: Some claim ±0.5 % or ±1 % depending on grain.

• Resolution: Often 0.1 % or 0.5 %.

2. Grain variety / calibration settings

• The meter allow you to select the type of grain (wheat, corn, rice, barley, etc) because the calibration differs by grain type.

• Some have built‑in calibrations for dozens of grain types.

3. Temperature measurement & compensation

• They measure grain or ambient temperature so the moisture reading is adjusted accordingly.
