Infrared chicken Bulb

An infrared brooding bulb is designed to heat chicks/poultry by emitting infrared (IR) radiation (rather than just visible light) so that the animals get warmth without overheated air or excessive lighting. Some benefits:

• It directly warms the birds and the surfaces rather than heating the entire air volume — this means more efficient use of energy.

• It tends to produce less disturbance (light, flicker) and helps maintain calmer behaviour in chicks.

• Helps in reducing early mortality in chicks because they can maintain body temperature without as much stress.

• Wattage:  100 W, 175 W, 250 W etc.

• Voltage & socket/base type:  (220-240 V).

• Heat output & coverage: The bulb must be positioned correctly to cover the brooding area so that chicks aren’t too hot or too cold. Maintenance of temperature is important.

• Safety & durability: Poultry houses can be humid, dusty, and have bedding material. The bulb and its fitting must be safe (heat-resistant fixture, no fire hazard).

• Mounting height & adjustment: As chicks grow, you’ll need to raise the bulb to prevent overheating and ensure proper coverage

• Spectrum/emission: While the bulb is for heat, not lighting, the quality of IR emission and how much visible red light or glow it produces can matter if you want minimal light disturbance.

• Replacement / lifespan: Good bulbs will last many hours and have stable performance. Example: a 175 W infrared brooder lamp lists a lifespan of ~6000 hours.
