JBL underseat subwoofer

When choosing an under-seat type (which is designed to fit beneath a car seat rather than in the trunk), here are the key features to check:

• Size and fit: Must physically fit under the seat with enough clearance around it. Many seats have limited height or obstacles like seat rails

• Built-in amplifier: Under-seat subs often include their own amp to simplify installation and keep overall space/complexity down.

• Frequency response / crossover / bass level control: You’ll want adjustable low-pass filter, possibly bass boost, remote level control if you care about tuning.

• Power & thermal/overload protection: Because space is limited, good heat dissipation and protection circuits matter. Sound vs space trade-off: Under-seat subs tend to provide less deep, “earth-shaking” bass compared to large trunk subwoofers, but they’re great for improving bass without sacrificing cargo/seat space.
